The existing house was a heritage build; originally a wide shop front, built around 1875. It was three stories with Victorian and Georgian style characteristics. But had been somewhat neglected. The clients brief was to update and imbue with colour and vibrancy for a contemporary Urban lifestyle. Brief: to create a family home layered with farm-house warmth and style where the owners could relax and be inspired by the surrounding natural landscape. To design an interior that tells a story of rural traditions and rustic charm, delivered within a unique country setting. The existing urban, red brick, three-bedroom house’s saving grace was a lovely garden overlooking a national park, but it lacked country charm and the interior design was not connected to the verdant, exterior landscape.

Brief: transform a terrace house into a light and airy retreat with clever outdoor connections. This contemporary house was inspired by a treasure trove of collectibles gathered over many years of travel and gifts from the owner’s artist friends. This project was an interesting challenge that a small space often presents.
