Smart, playful and curious
Brief: refresh heritage office interior and fit out.
This Surry Hills heritage warehouse provided fabulous bones. The client wanted to showcase its brand’s core principles in the design by incorporating a nod to classical forms and using materials that encouraged curiosity and thinking outside the box.
Custom tables and other furniture were used to create a signature style, whilst challenging traditional design principles. A playful Moooi table made of compressed recycled paper and cardboard was a perfect fit for the reception. The company’s brand colours were used in the chill-out zone with a fearless, bright blue-velvet, mid-century inspired chesterfield sofa set beside an Italian vintage, multicoloured, tile-top coffee table. Skilled, hand-picked craftspeople and artisans customised these pieces to work in the contemporary office space in a smart effective manner .
Playfully working with dichotomies, a bespoke shattered-glass table top with a classic mid-century timber base was chosen for the meeting room table to add visual interest. For the boardroom, a custom-made, polished concrete table that offered functionality and durability was commissioned.
